The cause of the beeping is usually related to safety-related situations in which the robotic lawn mower emits acoustic warning signals.
These signals are based on the requirements of the European safety standard EN 50636-2-107, which applies specifically to robotic lawn mowers.
In which situations does the robotic lawn mower beep?
According to the standard, an acoustic warning signal is required in the following cases, for example:
- Manual operation in transport mode
- Lifting or tilting the lawn mower – the robot stops and may beep as a warning
- Starting the blade – for safety reasons, an acoustic signal may sound before starting
A beep when leaving the working area or as theft protection is not required by the standard, but may be implemented by manufacturers as an option.
On our Sunseeker models, the beep sounds only during the start-up process when the blade disc starts to move. In this case, the robot emits four short beeps.
These cannot be deactivated due to the safety standard.
